Is Your Headache Coming From Your Neck?
Stephen Smith our osteopath treats many people with headaches that are a result of long hours of screen time and sitting. Most people are aware of better work ergonomics, but the long hours add up. Many headaches are due to muscle tightness and joint restrictions at the base of the skull, as we look down and our head juts forwards. Normally this is exacerbated by a slumped stiff upper back or jaw issues.
After a thorough screening, osteopathic treatment can help to release muscle tension and joint restrictions to regain optimal funtioning of these tissues. This is done through soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation and sometimes gentle manipulation. The results are generally better range of motion, less pain and better posture. More importantly, less headaches - which can lead to a far more productive day!
