Osteopathy and Vertigo

Osteopaths can be very effective in treating certain types of vertigo, particularly when symptoms are linked to neck dysfunction, postural strain, or vestibular imbalance. The upper cervical spine plays an important role in balance and spatial awareness, and restrictions or tension in this area can contribute to dizziness or a sensation of spinning. Osteopaths use gentle, precise hands-on techniques to improve mobility in the neck, reduce muscle tension, and optimise circulation and nerve function. When appropriate, they may also use specific repositioning manoeuvres for conditions such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), alongside advice on posture, balance exercises, and lifestyle factors. By addressing both mechanical and contributing factors, osteopathic treatment aims to reduce the frequency and intensity of vertigo episodes and support long-term stability and confidence in movement.
